Hi Aamir, We’re a week out from STAT’s Health Tech Summit, when we’ll gather experts from Alphabet, Amazon and Apple as well as some of the hottest and most interesting startups in health to discuss how and where technology can transform our broken care system. I’m psyched about a session we’ve just added to the agenda: a look at big ideas on how tech can change health care moderated by STAT’s health tech correspondent, Mohana Ravindranath. Speakers will include UCSF medical chairman and bestselling author Robert Wachter and health data superstar Atul Butte. It will be right after lunch, and it’s not to be missed. I’ll sit down with billionaire Eric Lefkofsky about his much-talked-about genomics and data startup Tempus. STAT’s Casey Ross will lead a stirring panel about who exactly own’s a patient’s data, a question which never seems to be completely settled but is almost always infuriating. Other sessions not to be missed: a timely session on Apple and its work in women’s health, an interview with Karen DeSalvo, the chief health officer of Google, and a conversation with Joshua Miele, Amazon executive and MacArthur Fellow, about accessible technologies.
