"BROKERS & CONSULTANTS - Who defends bad products? The people being paid excessive fees from the bad product. The unreported and unreasonable fees generated from advising and selling PBM services, has created a massive conflict of interest. The industry will remain resistant to change when hired brokers and consultants have to think through all of the compensation they receive from incumbent carriers.
PHARMA – While the drug manufacturers were sleeping, the PBMs usurped control of the pharmaceutical supply chain. Pharma's response to the PBMs' limitless greed was to raise prices and embrace even more complex pricing models.
GOVERNMENT - for creating an overly complex drug pricing system, for not curtailing M&A activity (vertical integration), and for not having oversight of this industry (Who is the regulatory body of the PBM industry?). We will see if the current FTC investigation into the PBM industry yields any results."
