Dancing through the pain, ARPA-H and risk, sickle cell, and more

July 16, 2023
Editor, First Opinion

While editing Tara Rynders' beautiful First Opinion essay on running dance workshops to help nurses heal from trauma, I just kept thinking about a quote from "30 Rock": "I'm so mad, all I can do is dance." It's a line played for laughs, but as Rynders' piece notes, there's more than a little truth to it: "We were scared, angry, raw, and vulnerable. Dancing together allowed us to share these truths about what it was like to be putting ourselves at risk when the rest of the world was on lockdown," she writes.

Also in First Opinion this week: ARPA-H and risk-taking, hepatitis C and the deficit, sickle cell cure access, and much more.
