Lawmakers have nearly reached a deal to extend telehealth flexibilities, fund public health programs, bolster physician pay, and enact major pharmacy benefit manager legislation as part of a government funding package that Congress plans to pass before the end of the year, according to sources familiar with the legislation.
The PBM legislation is the culmination of years of debate in Congress, and millions in advertising by the pharmaceutical industry urging more PBM regulation. Until now, PBMs have dodged efforts by federal lawmakers to rein in their practices.
