We're a little more than a month away from our annual STAT Summit in Boston, and things are coming into focus — although we still have a few surprises up our sleeves.
Every session will be moderated by STAT's award-winning journalists. Here's a look at some new additions to the agenda:
One of the biggest moments in science this year came when six-month-old KJ Muldoon was saved from a rare genetic disease through CRISPR gene editing. We'll kick off the summit by hearing directly from baby KJ's family and the researchers behind this feat.
There are big changes underway at the FDA. STAT's Adam Feuerstein will sit down with the CEOs of Capricor and Replimune, two biotech companies that have both run into surprise rejections from the agency. By the way: Adam is up for a Loeb Award, one of the highest accolades in business journalism, this year.
Ben Wolf, a veteran drug developer who has recently joined Alphabet spin-out Isomorphic Labs, will join us to discuss how artificial intelligence is changing drug discovery. He'll be interviewed by George Polk Award winner Casey M. Ross.
Add all of that to the other sessions on the agenda: an interview with the chief scientific officer of Eli Lilly, a session featuring GSK CEOEmma Walmsley, and a sit-down with two giants of biotech formation, Noubar Afeyan and Arie Belldegrun.
We'll be celebrating STAT's 10th anniversary, and looking ahead to the next 10 years. We'd like to do it with you!
